    Thanks, this is all that worked for me. Pretty stupid of Sony to drop the ball like this, but whatever. I guess this workaround has to do with keeping the communication channel open between the console and controller?

    Did you ever find a more permanent solution to this? I just got a used PS3 Slim in the mail (great price) and had this issue. I thought it was the result of CFW or something and the update half erased it. i was ready to give someone a nasty review and all that. I’m having an issue where some buttons don’t work, but others do in DoA, and due to the fact that, just to try this solution for the store, i stopped mid full reformat to try it out, so I don’t know if this works with that. I’m anxious to see if it does. Is there any button that i could use safely for most games, assuming that my issue with other games is the same?
