Or you could always use the IBM tool to do it…

Program Files\IBM\Lotus\Notes

nsd -kill

It works for me on 8.5.2.

Or, even easier, you can manually end the process ntaskldr.exe from the tab Processes in Windows Task Manager, after Lotus has crashed.
